Gum Grafting

Gum grafting is a procedure that involves the transfer of gum tissue from one area of your mouth to another. It is commonly performed to treat gum recession, where the gum tissue has pulled away from the teeth, exposing the tooth roots and compromising the stability of the teeth. Gum grafting helps restore gum tissue, protect the tooth roots, and improve gum health.

Periodontal Plastic Surgery

Periodontal plastic surgery encompasses a range of procedures aimed at enhancing the appearance of your gums and achieving a more harmonious smile. It can include procedures such as gum contouring, which reshapes the gumline to create a more balanced and symmetrical appearance, and crown lengthening, which exposes more of the tooth structure for aesthetic or restorative purposes. Periodontal plastic surgery can transform the overall aesthetics of your smile and boost your confidence.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A gingival graft is designed to solve these problems. A thin piece of tissue is taken from the roof of the mouth or gently moved over from adjacent areas to provide a stable band of attached gingiva around the tooth. The gingival graft may be placed in such a way as to cover the exposed portion of the root.

The gingival graft procedure is highly predictable and results in a stable, healthy band of attached tissue around the tooth.
